Shelly Macy has been singing and dancing her entire life. She is a member of Dance Masters of America, which is a nationally respected Dance Teacher’s organization. Shelly has taught dance in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Southern California. She has also had the opportunity to judge many Dance Contests and Miss America State Preliminaries. She is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and has performed in many Equity Theaters throughout the United States. Shelly was also a Miss Florida State University and Miss Miami both of which were Preliminaries for the Miss America Scholarship Pageant. She was also selected to be a part of the Miss Florida USO Tour. Shelly also was a lead singer in a traveling band called "High Tide". She is also a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild and has done many Commercials, TV, and Film work. Shelly attended Florida State University double Majoring in Dance and Musical Theater. When attending Florida State she was selected for many performances. Shelly was an apprentice with the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater first under the direction of Ballet Master Frano Jellinic and his wife Dagmar Kessler and later Patrick Franz. While living in the Pittsburgh area she also studied with her Mother Lee Garrard, with a former member of the Kirov Ballet, Jutec Kassamon, with Mario Melodia’s Musical Theater Program, as well as, earning College credits while in High School from Point Park College. She attended Chautauqua Institution Ballet Program as a Scholarship student and performed in many Chautauqua Ballet Productions. She was a chosen High School Student to attend the Pennsylvania’s Governor’s School of the Arts. She has studied extensively in New York and California with famous teachers such as Luigi, Phil Black, Jo Jo Smith, Joe Tremaine, Jaime Rogers, Stanley Holden, Christine Neubert, David Howard, Charles Kelley, and many more. She also studied voice with Dianah Walters, many vocal instructors in Chautauqua, the Governor’s School, and Florida State University. Shelly comes from a family of dancers. Her Mother Lee Garrard was a professional dancer and now a well respected teacher and former National President of Dance Masters of America. Her Brother Michael owns and operates his own Studio in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Shelly has had many students who have won dance titles, scholarships, professional dance careers and attend Universities where they are majoring in dance. In May 2005, Shelly’s student Tara Ghassemieh won the Teen Miss Dance of America title. Many of her other students, including her daughter Elle Macy, have held titles for Dancer Masters of Southern California and many of them have been in the top ten or finishing in the top 3. Shelly has also won many Platinum and Gold Awards for her performance Groups and Soloist at Dance Masters of Southern California and Dance Masters of America and many Platinum and Gold Awards at Showstoppers. A few of her students finished in the top 3 at Youth America Grand Prix and many others have finished in the top 12 with her Contemporary Choreography.
